(TORONTO, ON) The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Cory Dixon of the Sudbury Five has been named Player of the Week for the week ending January 27, 2019.

Dixon, a 6’7″ forward who played collegiately at the University of New Orleans, finished the week with a double-double average of 26.7 points and 10.7 rebounds, all part of three wins for the Sudbury Five.

“His focus has been great,” said Sudbury head coach Logan Stutz.  “He’s finished up around the rim, and on the defensive end, he’s been leading the way.  Halifax rung our bell last week, and that was a wake-up call.  We slowed down and started playing good basketball, we relied less on the run-and-gun and played some more half court, and the result has been very positive.”

Dixon helped the Five go 3-0 in the week, rising in the standings to take sole possession of third in the central standings.

The Five will hit the road the Kitchener for games against the Titans on Thursday and Saturday against the Titans, before returning to the Sudbury Arena on Thursday February 7th.
