(Greater Sudbury, ON) It was the start the Five were hoping for after their inaugural Holiday Break in the National Basketball League of Canada.

The Five came out to a quick start, starting the game off on a 10-5 run. The Five were led by guard Braylon Rayson who had nine points in the first quarter. Adam Blazek also had a strong start to the game, with seven points in the first frame. The Five were led on defense by Windsor, ON native Antoine Chandler who had two steals in the first. After twelve minutes, the Five were up 35-22.

Both teams moved into the second quarter shooting well, with the Five shooting 65% from field goal range, and the Titans shooting 45% from the field in the first. The second quarter was much of the opposite for the Five. The team shot 16.7% for three and 40% in field goal range. Meanwhile, the KW Titans enjoyed their best quarter in the NBLC this season. The team scored a season high 45 points, led by Ed Horton who had 20 points on almost perfect shooting in the frame. The Five limped into the half, trailing the Titans by seven, 67-60.

Moving into the third quarter, the Five knew they needed a strong quarter to get back into the basketball game. Both teams exchanged quick blows to start the quarter, with Cory Dixon hitting a jump shot for the Five, and Ashton Smith hitting for the Titans. Both teams were all offensive in the quarter. The Five were led by Braylon Rayson and Cory Dixon who had 14 and 12 points respectively. The Five scored 33 in the quarter but it wasn’t enough, the Titans extended their lead and moved into the fourth up 101-93.

In the final 12 minutes, the Titans pulled away with the lead. Led by big man Derek Hall, the Titans scored 31 points in the quarter. The Titans out rebounded the Five and came up with three timely steals to kill any momentum for the Five. The Titans closed out and came away with the win, 132-114.

Dallas, TX native Braylon Rayson once again led all players in scoring, with 33 points. Devin Gilligan came off the bench to add 21 points and seven rebounds to win BOSS Supplements Sudbury, BOSS of the Game honours.

The Five now turn their attention to an afternoon contest against the defending champion London Lightning on Sunday afternoon. The Five will be looking for revenge as they welcome the Lightning to the Sudbury Arena at 2:05 PM.
