(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Five return home to the Sudbury Community Arena this Thursday, after the team concluded their final road trip of the season last week. 

The Five will take on the Moncton Magic Thursday, marking the second time in ten days that the two teams will meet. The Five beat the first place Magic in Moncton last week 136-128, on the back of 41 points courtesy of Maurice Jones. Thursday’s game is sponsored by CTV who will be on hand with prizes and giveaways for lucky fans. Game time Thursday is 7:05 PM. 

Sunday, the Five will be opening their doors to the community for the team’s first-ever Fan Fest. The open house festival will feature a free BBQ, Kids Zone, and live music. Youth will also have the opportunity to meet the Five players and play on the court following morning shoot around. All the festivities begin at the Sudbury Arena at 10:30 AM. Following Fan Fest, the Five will take on the London Lightning at 2:05 PM in their second last game of the season. The Lightning are the NBL Canada’s hottest team, winning eight of their last nine games. Sunday’s game is sponsored by KUPP Centre who will have prizes and games for fans throughout the afternoon. Five lucky contests will also have the chance to win $5,000 Sunday courtesy of Allstate Insurance in a half-court shootout! 

The Five wrap up their inaugural season the following Wednesday (March 27th) at home against the KW Titans. The Five will be wearing special purple jerseys to raise funds for SEIZE Sudbury, focusing on Epilepsy Awareness in the City of Greater Sudbury. Each player’s jersey will be auctioned off during the game, with fans able to retrieve the jersey with their winning bid on the court after the game. Wednesday’s game will also feature a potential car giveaway, as one lucky fan will have the chance to win a Hyundai Kona courtesy of Sudbury Hyundai! Game time Wednesday is 7:05 PM.

Five Announce Roster Moves Prior to Final Homestand 

(Greater Sudbury, ON) With only three home games left to play in the team’s inaugural season, the Five have announced two roster moves. 

The Five have released forward Isaiah Johnson and have moved Travis Releford to the inactive reserve list. 

Johnson, 6-foot-10, 310-pound native of Cincinnati, OH averaged 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 15 games with the Five. Johnson was signed by the Five January 11th after beginning the year with KFUM Nässjö in the men’s top division in Sweden. 

A veteran to the National Basketball League of Canada, Releford has been placed on the inactive reserve list for personal reasons. The former Kansas Jayhawk is expected to rejoin the team at the conclusion of the regular season. 

Fans Reminded of Date Changes – Released January 15th, 2019 

The Sudbury Five and the National Basketball League of Canada have announced changes to the final two home games of the 2018-19 NBL Canada regular season. 

The previously scheduled Saturday March 23rd home game against the London Lightning has been moved to Sunday March 24th at 2:05 PM. 

The final home game scheduled for Thursday March 28th against the KW Titans has been moved to Wednesday March 27th at 7:05 PM. 

Together, the City of Greater Sudbury, SW Sports & Entertainment, parent company to the Sudbury Five, and the National Basketball League of Canada have worked together to accommodate the many events occurring at the Sudbury Arena at the end of March and into early April. These events include a mixture of concerts and live shows in addition to potential play-off games for both the Sudbury Wolves, and the Sudbury Five. 

Season ticket holders can continue to use their current tickets in-hand or can bring them into the Sudbury Arena Box Office for the tickets to be reprinted with the new date and time. Individual patrons who have already purchased tickets for one of these games can either continue to use their current tickets or have them reprinted at the Arena Box Office. The Sudbury Arena Box Office is open Monday to Friday from 9am-4:30pm and during Sudbury Arena Events.
