(Toronto, ON) The NBL Canada announced Monday afternoon that Sudbury Five Head Coach and General Manager Logan Stutz was named the Executive of the Year.

The Executive of the Year is awarded to the top member of the NBL Canada’s Executive Committee, including the owners of the teams. The award winner is selected by Deputy Commissioner Audley Stephenson.

Stutz was named the expansion franchise’s inaugural Head Coach and General Manager in August 2018. Tasked with building a team in four months, Stutz assembled one of the highest scoring offenses that the NBL Canada has ever seen. Introducing new players to the league, Stutz was able to attract players from across the globe, helping to contribute to the team’s success in their first season.

A first year Executive, Stutz transitioned this season after completing his final season as a professional with the Windsor Express last year. Stutz finished in the top 10 for scoring in the 2017-18 season averaging 18.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

A staple in the Sudbury community in his short time in the city, Stutz has led the team’s community outreach to schools and community partners. Attending almost every community visit, Logan has been a significant influencer on the game of basketball in Sudbury.

“Logan has been an amazing asset to our franchise during our inaugural season,” said Vice-President of Basketball Operations Bob Johnson. “Establishing himself in the Sudbury community as an ultimate professional, Logan has had a fantastic season on and off the court. Without Logan, the success we experienced during our inaugural season would not have been possible.”

Past winners of the award include: Jeff Dunlap (2017-18), Dartis Willis (2015-16), Vito Frijia (2014-15), Taylor Brown (2013-14), Kim Blanco (2012-13), and Duncan Shaw (2011-12).
