(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury FIVE are pleased to announce the signing of the first two players in franchise history. Today marks an occasion that is the cumulation of a significant amount of effort into establishing the tone and character of the Franchise. With Head Coach and GM Logan Stutz announced 3 weeks ago, Stutz has been busy building and recruiting a competitive team for the Inaugural Season.

The FIVE announce the signing of Marcus Lewis as the first player to be signed with the franchise and Kadeem Green the first Canadian to be signed by the team.

“The past 3 weeks have been a blur but have been really rewarding,” said Stutz. “The player interest in the community of Sudbury and playing up here has been strong and we are working through building a competitive roster that will be entertaining and win. Marcus and Kadeem joining our team are going to set a tone for the on-court character we are looking to establish. I’m excited!”

Marcus Lewis is the first player to be signed by the Sudbury FIVE. The 26-year-old Lewis is entering his 4th pro season. Lewis is a product of Eastern Kentucky University. Prior to turning pro, Lewis won the 2014 NCAA State Farm Slam Dunk contest. He also won the Puma Hoops Slam Dunk contest, earning a spot on a billboard in Times Square, New York City.

“I am excited to get to Sudbury and play for a guy like Logan,” said Lewis. “Last year was a good season in Canada, but this year I’m ready to make a huge impact here with the FIVE.”

Kadeem Green is the first Canadian player to be signed by the Sudbury FIVE. The 27-year-old from Toronto played university basketball at Ryerson University in Toronto, and at Missouri University and Ohio University. Green is entering his 3rd professional season after playing in both Lithuania and France.

“I am looking forward to playing close to home and having my family able to visit and watch,” said Green. “Coach Stutz is building a team that is going to be fun to play on and I’m looking forward to that.”
