(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury FIVE Basketball team is pleased to introduce, exactly 4 weeks ahead of their inaugural home opener on November 22, the new team mascot – Rock Monster. The team’s new mascot will be making public appearances ahead of next week’s open tryout and main camp which opens up the first week of November.
The Rock Monster Mascot is a happy character whose personality represents those virtues of the team and the region – hard rock, hard work, happy and fun. The Rock Monster was developed over the past 9 months and fits with the overall story of the Sudbury FIVE. The mascot celebrates the rich history of the region while showing that the North has a lot more to offer and complement our mining heritage. Rock Monster was kid-tested last spring by more than 500 elementary school children in the Sudbury region who helped choose the best mascot among a variety of options presented to them.
“We are excited about the addition of the character to our team and can’t thank Ms. McCauley, her staff and students at R.L. Beattie enough for working with us last spring,” said Andrew Dale VP Marketing & Development, SWSE, FIVE and Wolves. “With their assistance and the hard work by the entire FIVE front office team to bring the character to life, we can’t wait to see the Rock Monster at the Sudbury Arena, on the court and in the community.”
